Abstract

Aim. To present the results of a pilot study using the "MAR Infrastructure" digital platform to assess the actual state of municipal infrastructure related to population lifestyle in the Pskov Region.Material and methods. This pilot study to assess municipal infrastructure related to population lifestyle and health was conducted in the Pskov Region (Pskov and Pechory). The "MAR Infrastructure" digital platform, developed by the National Medical Research Center for Therapy and Preventive Medicine, was used to assess municipal infrastructure. Field research was conducted from November to December 2024.Results. Based on the study results, a database was compiled that included 863 infrastructure facilities, including 787 in Pskov and 76 in Pechory. In Pskov, the density of infrastructure facilities per 1 km² is higher than in Pechory. The largest differences are observed in accessibility of liquor stores (Pskov — 2,1 facilities/1 km² and Pechory — 0,7 facilities/1 km²) and tobacco and electronic nicotine delivery system sales outlets (Pskov — 1,5 facilities/1 km² and Pechory — 0,6 facilities/1 km²). The most accessible infrastructure elements were alcohol sales outlets, which in Pskov exceeded the accessibility of physical activity facilities by 5 times. In Pskov, 17 of 146 (11.6%) tobacco product sales outlets were located within a 100 m radius of educational institutions. In Pskov, 19 of 203 (9,4%) liquor stores were located within a 100-meter radius of educational institutions, while in Pechory, this was 2 of 14 (14,3%).Conclusion. The identified differences between the studied areas of the Pskov Region provide insight into the variability of infrastructure in Russian cities, especially in cities with different population sizes, including within the same region. According to the pilot study results, there is a need to strengthen enforcement of existing legislation regarding the location of facilities where tobacco and alcohol products are sold.
