Abstract

Neuralgic amyotrophy (NA), also known as Parsonage–Turner syndrome, is an uncommon inflammatory neuropathy characterized by acute neuropathic pain followed by muscle weakness and atrophy. Phrenic nerve involvement leading to diaphragmatic dysfunction is rare and may represent a diagnostic challenge, particularly in postoperative patients in whom alternative cardiopulmonary etiologies coexist. Resumen: La amiotrofia neurálgica (NA), también conocida como síndrome de Parsonage-Turner, es una neuropatía inflamatoria poco frecuente caracterizada por dolor neuropático agudo seguido de debilidad y atrofia muscular. La afectación del nervio frénico que conduce a una disfunción diafragmática es poco común y puede suponer un desafío diagnóstico, especialmente en pacientes posoperatorios en los que coexisten otras etiologías cardiopulmonares.
