Different surgical treatment methods for congenital vertical talus (CVT) were discussed. At the Orthopaedic Clinic of the Medical Academy in Poznań, the Dega method was employed in the surgical treatment of eighteen feet between 1952 and 1965. Eleven feet were reviewed with the follow-up minimum 1.5 years. Favorable results were observed in 4 instances, while seven were deemed satisfactory. The treatment’s efficacy correlated with the type of deformity. The management of a CVT requires an individualized approach, taking the type of deformity into account. The Dega method yields positive and consistent for this deformity; however, in alternative cases, surgical management should be extended to the tarsometatarsal joint and its surrounding structures.
